The parts of the sentence are a set of terms for describing how people construct sentences from smaller pieces. There is not a direct correspondence between the parts of the sentence and the parts of speech. The subject of a sentence, for example, could be a noun, a pronoun, or even an entire phrase or clause. Like the parts of speech, however, the parts of the sentence form part of the basic vocabulary of grammar, and it is important that you take some time to learn and understand them.

(Parts of the sentence adalah istilah untuk menggambarkan bagaimana kita menyusun sebuah kalimat dari bagian-bagian yang lebih kecil daripada kalimat itu. Tidak ada hubungan langsung di antara bagian-bagian kata itu. Subject dalam sebuah kalimat, misalnya, bisa berupa sebuah noun, sebuah pronoun, atau bahkan bisa juga seluruh phrase or clause di dalam kalimat itu. Note that I intentionally put these two basic elements of the grammar at the very beginning of the lesson because I often see people get confused with the uses of verb, for instance, either as a part of speech or as a part of the sentence.
